How do I add my favourite locations?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Enter the options menu
  3. Select ‘Settings’
  4. Select the top option labelled ‘My Favourite Places’
  5. Select the ‘+’ icon
  6. In the ‘Add Favourite Places’ menu, click ‘Enter Address’, select a recent place or manually type the address. Add a nickname if you prefer e.g. Work
  7. Click ‘Add Favourite Place’ to save

Once added, this location will become an easily accessible option when placing a booking.

How do I book a journey from my favourite locations?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Select the pick-up address bar located at the top of the map
  3. The app will now display your favourite locations – Select the desired address
  4. Choose a vehicle type (if applicable) 
  5. Choose to ‘Book Now’ or ‘Pre-book’ your journey
  6. Select your payment method
  7. Your booking is now confirmed

How do I split my taxi fare?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Book a taxi from your location, ensuring you select to pay via a registered card
  3. When the first passenger is in the vehicle, select the option that has appeared in the bottom left labelled ‘Split Fare’
  4. Ensure you have enabled the app to sync with your contacts, then choose a person from your contact list and click ‘Request Split Fare’
  5. Select ‘Yes’ to confirm the person you would like to split the fare with
  6. The other person will now receive a notification of your request, only when this has been accepted will ‘Split Fare’ show as active
    6a. To check the status of any request, press the ‘Split Fare’ option
  7. Once the journey is complete, all parties that have accepted the split fare will be charged and given a fare summary within their City Taxis app – to view this, go to the ‘Options’ menu and select ‘Inbox’

I have a reward code. How do I claim this?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Enter the options menu
  3. Select ‘Rewards’ option
  4. Select the ‘+’ icon
  5. In the ‘Add Reward’ window, type your promo code and select ‘Add’
  6. Click ‘OK’ on the success window

Once added, your reward will become available to redeem when booking a journey on card – please note, rewards cannot be redeemed against cash bookings.

How do I use my reward?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Book a taxi from your location, ensuring you select to pay via a registered card
  3. When a card is selected and a reward is active, a gift icon will appear in the bottom right with the number of rewards available
  4. Select the gift icon to open the reward menu 
  5. Select the reward you wish to redeem
  6. Now select the ‘Request Taxi’ Option

How do I add a payment card?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Enter the options menu
  3. Select ‘Payment’ option
  4. Select the ‘Card’ option on the left-hand side
  5. Select the ‘+’ icon
  6. In the ‘Add Payment Card’ menu, select the option to either scan your card or manually input the details

Once listed, this payment method will become available when placing a booking.

How do I book a new journey from a place I have visited recently?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Select the pick-up address bar located at the top of the map
  3. Under favourite locations, it will now display your recent places – Select the desired address
  4. Choose a vehicle type (if applicable)
  5. Choose to ‘Book now’ or ‘Pre-book’ your journey
  6. Select your payment method
  7. Your booking is now confirmed

I need a wheelchair accessible taxi. How do I book this on the app?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Enter the options menu
  3. Select the ‘Default Wheelchair Accessibility’ option, this should toggle the icon to red
  4. Return to the booking screen where you will notice the vehicle type options across the bottom of the map have now been removed, indicating your selection has been recognised*
  5. Once you’ve placed your taxi booking, a wheelchair accessible vehicle will sent to you

*Please remember to return this setting back if a normal car is required.

I need to call my driver. How do I do this?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Book a taxi from your location
  3. Whilst the driver is en route, select the ‘Contact’ option in the bottom left of the screen
  4. Select the ‘Call’ option
  5. This will now initiate a call into City Taxis. Follow the automated options for speaking to your driver

I have a businesss account, can I use this on the app?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Enter the menu of options
  3. Select ‘Payment’ option
  4. At the bottom of the screen, select the right-hand option labelled ‘Accounts’
  5. Select the option ‘Existing Business Accounts’
  6. Select the option of ‘Credit Account’
  7. Fill in the form with the account holders’ details (not case sensitive)
  1. Account name
  2. Account admin name
  3. Account admin email
Once entered select join account. This has now sent an email to the account holder and City Taxis accounts department for approval Once approved, return to the menu and select  > ‘Payment’ > ‘Account’. You will now see a section available called ‘My Accounts’. Once this appears, this payment type will become an option when placing a booking.

How do I book on my business account?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. ‘Book Now’ or ‘Pre-book’ a taxi from your desired location
  3. Select the payment options bar across the bottom of the screen
  4. Find the ‘Accounts’ section and select the required account for this booking
  5. When all details have been entered, press ‘Request Taxi’
  6. Fill in all the required validation fields to authorise the booking on the account
  7. Press ‘Confirm Validation’
  8. Your booking is now confirmed

I’d like to create a card account on the app. How do I do this?

 
  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Enter the menu of options
  3. Select ‘Payment’ option
  4. At the bottom of the screen select, the right-hand option labelled ‘Accounts’
  5. Select the option ‘Existing Business Accounts’
  6. Select the option of ‘Credit Account’

I want to allow another person to use my card account when booking on their app. How do I give them access?

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Enter the options menu 
  3. Select ‘Payment’
  4. Select the option on the right labelled ‘Accounts’
  5. Go Into the ‘My Accounts’ menu
  6. Go the ‘Card Account’ section and select the account you wish to add users onto
  7. Select the ‘Invite Account Members’
  8. Ensure you have enabled the app to sync with your contacts, then select the person from the list you’d like to add
  9. Confirm the correct contact has been selected by clicking ‘Yes’

Can I use my app when I’m not in my home town? How does this work?

The new City Taxis app is driven by the riide network meaning you can use your City Taxis app across the UK, Ireland and US! The City Taxi app will book you a taxi with a reputable local company in the following towns/cities: Sheffield, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, London, Liverpool, Leicester, Loughborough, Luton, Stockport, Cambridge, Dublin, Milton Keynes, Belfast, Oxford, Birmingham in UK & Ireland & Charlottesville, Virginia, Alexandria & Springfield USA.

How to book
  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Select an address within any of the above listed operating areas
  3. Select to ‘Book Now’or ‘Pre-book’

What are the location icons I can see on the map?

The ‘Points of Interest’ on the map are location markers which identify easily accessible pick-up locations for the taxi. For this reason, when you are close to a POI, the app will automatically ask you to stand at this location for collection.

You will often find useful information in regards to the pick-up point, or on occasion find great offers for the venue.

What is the Safe Taxi Scheme and how do I use this?

The Safe Taxi Scheme aims to ensure that students or other affiliates with no cash on them can still get home safely.

The scheme can only be used if you have a valid University of Sheffield/Sheffield Hallam student card, Sheffield United FC season ticket or Chesterfield FC season ticket.

Bookings can be made by calling City Taxis or via the app:

  1. Launch the City Taxis application
  2. Enter the options menu
  3. Select ‘Safe Taxi’
  4. Click ‘Call Now’
  5. A call will be initiated to our dedicated bookings team
  6. When the call is answered, quote ‘Safe Taxi’ and provide your affiliate card details

When the vehicle arrives:

  1. When the City Taxi arrives, hand your affiliate card to the taxi driver and tell them where to take you. No cash necessary!
  2. In the following days, go to the your affiliate’s Reception desk to pay your taxi fare and collect your affiliate card*

*Most affiliate cards will be returned within 24 hours, though in some cases it may be up to 48 hours
