To raise awareness for ‘National Foodbank Day’, the City Grab team spent the morning volunteering at Sheffield charity, S6 Foodbank.

S6 Foodbank, who have 11 sites across the city, help individuals and families currently struggling to deal with the issues currently going on in their lives. Whether this be drug and alcohol-related, or those in temporary housing. They also provide services for those dealing with debt, struggling to find shelter, and offer general advice from specialists who are on hand for a chat about whatever it is those concerned need help dealing with.

The foodbank provides food packages for around 60,000 people each year, with 400+ families currently requiring their support. As this figure is likely to increase as we head towards Christmas, the charity needs their community’s support more than ever.

The City Grab team learnt about all the services offered at the foodbank, as well as some manual labour helping to sort and pack the food!

How can you help? Volunteer opportunities are open to anyone and is welcomed at all S6 Foodbank’s 11 city-wide sites. A wide range of supermarkets across the city have drop bins for food and product donations, or head across to S6 Foodbank’s just giving page by following the link:
