Cheers to Safe Journeys! City Taxis partners with Abbeydale Road Beer Festival to promote responsible rides.
Having pledged to support a small charity in each of our operating areas, we are now happy to announce our latest charity partners for 2022/23, Doorways Derby!
Founded in 2015 by local couple Lisa and Craig Wheatley, Doorways Derby initially set out to support rough sleepers in Derby City Centre but has since grown to regularly support over 120 households through food banks and street kitchens, held every Tuesday and Saturday.
#TeamCity members Michael, Sacha and Amy volunteered at a recent Tuesday evening session which saw 55 people visit the charity set up, taking away hot food, drinks, food parcels, and fresh fruit.
With over 8,000 members on their Facebook page, Doorways are unable to anticipate how many people will drop in on the sessions. The charity relies heavily on food donations from the public and local businesses, with Greggs, Birds Bakery, Aldi, Sainsburys, Lidl, Morrisons, Co-op and Asda, supporting the charity week on week with generous food donations. Lisa and Craig personally fund some of the food and toiletries, and hot meals are cooked by family members and volunteers.
